This week several businessmen are traveling to Russia and Kazakstan with president Zapatero. They could go willing to spend a lot and if they do they would would help stabilize business there? clearly inclined toward Moscow.
Repsol, Talgo and Gestamp will sign three agreements in St. Petersburg worth 800 million euros. A group of 15 companies will participate in the trip, according to official sources in Moscow.
In the first line of the contracts previewed in Russia, in the agreement that the company?s president Antonio Brufau will sign with Alliance Oil, there is a line about exploring mineral deposits.
Repsol has maintained his presence in Russia since February of 2006 when an agreement was reached with West Siberian Resources (WSR) to acquire 10% of the company and to develop a joint project in the country: find and produce hydrocarbons.
In 2008, WSR was merged with the Russian petroleum firm Alliance Oil. In Kazakstan, Repsol also plans to sign a strategic agreement with Kazmunaigas, who hopes that a long-term commercial alliance will bear fruit.
Other of the trip winners will be Talgo. The company chaired by Carlos de Palacio y Oriol will sign a strategic agreement next saturday with RZD, the company responsible of Russian railways. Gestamp, meanwhile, will also sign an agreement with the government of the province of Leningrad.
