The Spanish government says Germany´s attitude about the cucumber crisis was "very positive" and therefore will not bring up any suits against authorities there.
Nor will they call for an excuse. Rosa Aguilar confirmed that farmers will receive help as before.
The secretary of state for European issues, Diego López Garrido, has affirmed that the government´s intention is to "look toward the future" and rule out legal actions. This goes against statements of the Minister of the Interior Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba.
"We have an agreement with Germany to support promotion measures for recuperating the prestige of Spanish products," explained López Garrido. He noted that Germany accounts for 25% of all exported Spanish agricultural products, according to El Mundo.
With respect to initial statements given by the German government, López has called them "hasty," confirming that it was an obvious error. "It´s understood that Germany has gotten things straight and that there will not by any more statements of this kind."
