South of Europe is on Wal-Mart´s Radar

One of the giants of American retail stores Wal-Mart is on the move to take on the old continent. Cushman & Wakefield consulting film has been hired to seek opportunities for the American magnate.

After years of unsteady testing in various markets, the company has establish South Europe as the main target for the next couple of years, The Spanish market has its two cents on the subject.

So far the company has established itself in the United Kingdom, where it owns the third largest retail store Asda. The German market was not as benevolent and Wal-Mart had to leave in 2006 after 8 straight years of loses.

According to sources close to the company, the tycoon is sniffing a corporative operation to ensure a steady growth in Spain, Portugal, Italy and France. As early as last week British newspaper The Independent informed about a work team of over 100 people being created in London to seek expansion opportunities for the brand.
