Market ends sharply lower on recession fears

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks ended sharply lower on Tuesday after data showed the vast services sector contracted in January to a level not seen since the last U.S. recession and Standard & Poor's warned it may cut bank credit ratings if it is forced to cut bond insurers.
