Wall Street drops as confidence shrinks

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks extended declines on Tuesday and the Nasdaq fell 1 percent after September data showed consumer confidence fell to its lowest level since February.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> dropped 58.65 points, or 0.54 percent, to 10,753.39. The Standard & Poor's 500 <.SPX> fell 7.60 points, or 0.67 percent, to 1,134.56. The Nasdaq Composite <.IXIC> lost 22.48 points, or 0.95 percent, to 2,347.29.
