Wall St opens 1 percent higher on data

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks rose more than 1 percent at the open on Friday after a rebound in August orders for most categories of durable goods, that suggested a modest improvement in the economy.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> added 128.81 points, or 1.21 percent, to 10,791.23. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> rose 14.59 points, or 1.30 percent, to 1,139.42. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> gained 31.41 points, or 1.35 percent, to 2,358.49.
