NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks cut initial losses to edge higher on Wednesday as gains in healthcare and technology shares offset earlier profit-taking after weak economic data.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> gained 35.50 points, or 0.34 percent, to 10,561.99. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> added 0.68 points, or 0.06 percent, to 1,121.78. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> rose 2.45 points, or 0.11 percent, to 2,292.22.
