NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Dow average briefly rose more than 1 percent on Monday following upbeat Chinese factory data and a deal on global bank rules that gives lenders more time before they must raise additional capital.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 99.75 points, or 0.95 percent, at 10,562.52. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was up 13.60 points, or 1.23 percent, at 1,123.15. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 35.95 points, or 1.60 percent, at 2,278.43.
