NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks rose at the open on Thursday after data showed first-time applications for unemployment insurance, though still high, fell more than expected in the latest week.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> gained 21.26 points, or 0.21 percent, to 10,081.32. The Standard & Poor's 500 <.SPX> rose 3.36 points, or 0.32 percent, to 1,058.69. The Nasdaq Composite <.IXIC> added 3.82 points, or 0.18 percent, to 2,145.36.
