NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks lost ground on Tuesday, giving up short-lived gains after data showed consumer confidence fell in July to the lowest level since February on worries about the job market.
* The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> dipped 3.86 points, or 0.04 percent, to 10,521.57. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was off 0.88 points, or 0.08 percent, to 1,114.13. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> lost 4.82 points, or 0.21 percent, to 2,291.61.
