Portugal president to meet Socialist leader Costa amid government crisis

LISBON (Reuters) - Portuguese President Anibal Cavaco Silva will meet the leader of the main opposition Socialists, Antonio Costa, at 11:00 am (1100 GMT) on Monday, the president's office said.

Cavaco Silva, who also met Costa on Friday along with other political leaders, is deliberating on what to do next in the political crisis after the opposition-dominated parliament voted out the centre-right government on Nov. 10.

He is to decide whether to nominate a new government led by Costa and backed by a leftist parliament majority or leave Pedro Passos Coelho's centre-right in power in a caretaker capacity.
