Poland names governing party MP as new treasury minister

WARSAW (Reuters) - Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz said on Monday she had picked governing party lawmaker Andrzej Czerwinski as the new treasury minister, whose job it is to oversee the state's shares in public companies.

Czerwinski, a member of Kopacz's Civic Platform party, is currently a head of a parliamentary energy panel.

The change is part of a broader government re-shuffle ahead of a parliamentary election later this year. Kopacz is trying to improve her party's ratings after it suffered an unexpected defeat in presidential elections last month.
