Zimbabwe's Biti case adjourned after no-show

HARARE (Reuters) - Zimbabwe's High Court adjourned on Saturday after police failed to bring Movement for Democratic Change secretary-general Tendai Biti to court, his lawyer said.

According to defence lawyer Lewis Uriri, police said theydid not believe a previous order to bring him to court was fromthe High Court, and the case was adjourned to consider the wayforward.

"They had doubts about its authenticity and they had cometo verify (the order) with the judge. They said he (Biti) issafe and that they are now going to take instructions on whatto do next."

Biti is facing a treason charge after his arrest onThursday.
