Dutch, French far-right fail to form European Parliament group - politician

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Far-right parties from the Netherlands and France have failed in their attempt to form an anti-European Union parliamentary group in the European Parliament, Dutch Freedom Party leader Geert Wilders said in a statement to Reuters late on Monday.

Wilders said cooperation with a Polish right-wing party that has been accused of anti-Semitism and misogyny was "a bridge too far" for him, but said he hoped to form a parliamentary group later in the year.

Wilders's Eurosceptic, anti-immigration party had hoped to form an alliance with France's Front National, led by Marine le Pen and five other parties, which would have unlocked extra funding for the parties in the multinational assembly.
