China April official PMI rises to 50.4 from 50.3 in March

BEIJING (Reuters) - China's official Purchasing Managers' Index edged up to 50.4 in April from March's 50.3, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Thursday, as the government uses targeted measures to support the slowing economy.

Economists had expected the reading to rise to 50.5, matching January's level and climbing further above the 50-point threshold separating growth from contraction.
