Blast hits passenger bus in Sri Lanka -witness

COLOMBO (Reuters) - A blast rocked a passenger bus on the southern outskirts of the Sri Lankan capital on Saturday morning, an eyewitness said, adding he could see smoke rising into the air and ambulances rushing to the scene.

The military confirmed there had been an explosion but hadno further details.

"There was an explosion that hit a bus. I can see thesmoke," said Haren Fernando, a private sector worker who wasstanding beside the road in the town of Mount Lavinia.
