Italy president dissolves parliament

ROME (Reuters) - Italian President Giorgio Napolitano formally dissolved parliament on Wednesday, a spokesman said, putting the country on the road to a snap election that will most likely be held in mid-April.

Caretaker Prime Minister Romano Prodi was due to hold acabinet meeting shortly afterwards to decide the date of theelection, widely expected to take place on April 13 and 14.
