WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. and Chinese officials agreed on Monday that the global economy was mending but it was important to apply stimulus as long as necessary and withdraw it carefully.
"Both in the U.S. and China authorities have put in place very aggressive fiscal and monetary stimulus policies," the official said. "In both places the stimulus policies are starting to take effect but it was very clear that neither side was complacent at all."
The official added: "There was a lot of discussion about how both sides are grappling with the timing of the withdrawal of macroeconomic stimulus...(and) it has to take place at the right time and not let another set of imbalances and bubbles build up."
