Man arrested while trying to fly drone over White House

Washington, May 14 (EFE).- A man was arrested Thursday while flying a drone in a park near the White House.

President Barack Obama was not in the White House at the time.

According to CNN, Secret Service agents detained a man who, according to eyewitnesses, was directing a drone by remote control over Lafayette Park near the White House.

The park at the White House's north wing, on Lafayette Square, has been closed, along with several nearby streets, while security forces investigate the incident.

Obama was not at the White House at the time but rather at Camp David hosting a summit with Persian Gulf leaders and top officials.

Last January, a small drone crashed on the southeast lawn of the White House.

Shortly after that incident, the owner of the drone voluntarily turned himself in to Secret Service agents and said that the whole thing was an accident.

On that occasion, Obama and his wife Michelle were on an official visit to India.
