USGS reports 6.0 magnitude quake off Chilean coast

SANTIAGO (Reuters) - The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 6.0 magnitude earthquake on Friday just off the coast of Chile, 56 miles (90 kilometres) south-southwest of Valparaiso, at 20:26 local time (1:26 a.m. British time).

The temblor, at a depth of 14.2 miles (23 kilometres), was initially reported at magnitude 6.0..

The quake was felt in the capital Santiago. Chile's national emergency office said there were no reports of damage or injuries caused by the quake and no tsunami warning. A massive quake hit south-central Chile in February 2010.
