SARGODHA, Pakistan (Reuters) - A suicide bomb exploded at a Shi'ite mosque in central Pakistan on Sunday, killing the bomber and wounding at least 15 people, police said.
The attack took place as people performed evening prayers at the mosque in the city of Sargodha.
"The attacker was carrying a bag and detonated the explosives as a guard at the gate tried to stop him," Abdul Ghafoor, a witness who was wounded in the attack, told Reuters.
Police said at least 15 people were wounded. The attacker himself was killed.
Punjab province, Pakistan's heartland and traditional seat of power where Sargodha is located, has seen a series of attacks in recent months.
More than 40 people were killed in twin suicide bombings at a Sufi shrine in the provincial capital Lahore this month.
More than 80 people were killed in twin attacks on Ahmadis, a religious minority sect which calls itself Muslim but declared non-Muslims in Pakistan, in late May.
