Wall Street falls on job woes and energy

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks fell at the open on Friday as sign of further deterioration in the labor market fueled concerns that the recession is deepening.

Highlights:

* A profit warning from Dow component Chevron , whose shares fell 2.1 percent, dragged energy shares lower.

* The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was down 72.56 points, or 0.83 percent, at 8,669.90. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was down 9.51 points, or 1.05 percent, at 900.22. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was down 19.56 points, or 1.21 percent, at 1,597.45.
