platform to deliver interactive exhibits and displays for tradeshows,
museums and event centres.
For example, booth managers swipe a tradeshow attendee's
identification badge, hand him or her a Ubisense tag, and allow the
attendee to interact with the digital media throughout the booth. As
the attendee engages a kiosk, the Fish Software system, in conjunction
with the Ubisense precise RTLS platform, will know who the attendee
is, and deliver a message that is relevant to the individual visitor's
particular needs. Fish Software can incorporate multiple experiential
elements into its solution, such as interactive games or color and
music preferences, and have those profile settings follow the attendee
throughout the exhibit.
Prior to Ubisense, Fish Software used standard radio frequency
identification (RFID) tags. The challenge Fish Software encountered
was making sure the tracking tags only triggered action in the section
of the exhibit where an attendee was actively engaged. Since standard
RFID technology does not provide precise location information, this
created several limitations that impacted the overall experiential
effects of the Fish Software system. Additionally, the large number of
RFID tags active in the system at any one time had the potential of
slowing down the Fish Software system creating an unacceptable delay
in executing the desired triggers.

The Ubisense platform transcends RFID technology by utilizing
ultra-wideband (UWB) to locate moving objects in real-time within 30
cm of accuracy and in 3D. Unlike standard RFID that only transmits
information when detected by sensors, Ubisense tags are always active,
tracking information and transmitting it to the Ubisense proprietary
software system that stores the history of movement. By integrating
its system with the Ubisense platform, Fish Software is able to
provide customers with measurements related to exhibit traffic
patterns and design as well as visitor and booth staff behavior. For
example, an exhibitor can measure product interest by tracking where
visitors spent the most time, how long visitors stayed at each kiosk,
and the aggregate time of each visit.
By using the Ubisense platform, Fish Software can also post a map
of the show floor online that can be viewed via a secure connection by
remote management that allows them to view booth traffic. Remote
viewers can even click on a visitor's icon to view his or her profile
and view survey responses in real-time.
