BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Energy-guzzling light bulbs should be banned in the European Union by late in 2012, a panel of European Union experts proposed on Monday.
"Incandescent bulbs will be phased out between September 2009 and September 2012," said a spokesman for the EU's French Presidency.
The proposals will be studied by the European Parliament and member states. If no objection is raised, they could be adopted in a fast-track procedure by the end of March.
