Passlogix(R), Inc., today announced that it has sold more than 1
million licenses for its market-leading v-GO(R) Sign-On Platform(TM)
to organizations for users in server-based computing environments,
including Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server and Microsoft Terminal
Services. Roughly one-fourth of the Passlogix license base uses server
based computing for some part of their application access, reflecting
v-GO's superior flexibility in supporting the technical challenges
caused by thin client installations as well as v-GO's advanced support
for strong authentication and other technologies that are critical to
growing number of enterprise customers.
Passlogix's customer base ranges from organizations with a few
hundred users to several of the largest companies in the world as well
as customers with the largest server based computing farms. Many
organizations have a subset of their applications hosted on a
server-based infrastructure or may require external users to use
server-based computing for all their access. Either way, successful
ESSO deployment requires a solution that works equally well inside and
outside of products like Citrix MetaFrame and Microsoft Terminal
Services.
"Many ESSO deployments in server-based computing environments fail
because of performance or scalability issues or because they fail to
address requirements such as support for all data repositories,
kiosks, strong authentication devices or identity provisioning
systems," said Stephane Fymat, vice president of product management
and sales operations for Passlogix. "v-GO is able to facilitate
password management in these environments because of its low resource
utilization, scalable architecture, broad IT infrastructure support,
and comprehensive suite of products designed for seamless identity
management."
"We have both Citrix and web-based applications, and we have used
v-GO along with a web application access control system since 2003 to
eliminate the use of multiple application passwords and other
time-consuming sign-on procedures," said David Dully, Chief Technology
Officer for Baptist Health, a five-hospital community healthcare
provider in Northeast Florida. "v-GO's ability to operate reliably and
efficiently with our Citrix MetaFrame server farm was critical to the
implementation, and it has performed as promised."
The v-GO platform consists of six related products built around
v-GO SSO((R)) (Single Sign-on), an advanced ESSO solution that
automatically and securely signs users into enterprise applications,
databases or accounts after a single network logon without requiring
additional identification and authentication processes. This reduces
the security gaps, administrative overhead, user frustration, and help
desk calls associated with the need to remember and manage a different
password for each application.
In server-based computing environments, v-GO SSO's benefits over
other ESSO systems include an architecture that is optimized for low
CPU and memory utilization, installation directly on the application
server in order to fully automate server-side logons, the ability to
track each user's identity in and out of a Citrix session to eliminate
a user having to manually log on to both the Windows desktop and the
Citrix environment, and other features that address the complexities
of implementing ESSO with thin clients.
The five v-GO add-on products offer additional functionality
related to strong authentication, identity provisioning, self-service
reset of forgotten Windows passwords, and shared workstation and kiosk
environments.
This additional functionality includes native integration with all
leading smart cards, building access badges, proximity devices, tokens
and biometrics; the ability of different methods of strong
authentication to be used for different users and applications;
out-of-the-box interoperability with all leading identity management
systems for automatic insertion of user credentials into v-GO without
any end user involvement; inclusion of an integrated credential
management system for managing strong authentication devices; and
automated Windows password reset.
The platform is easily implemented in enterprises of all sizes and
can support sign-on to any type of Windows, mainframe or Web
application without modification or significant implementation cost,
overcoming the limitations of first-generation ESSO solutions.
