Ryanair makes new cash bid for Aer Lingus

DUBLIN (Reuters) - Ryanair , Europe's largest low-cost airline, on Monday issued a new all-cash offer to buy Irish rival Aer Lingus , offering 1.40 euros ($1.81) for each share of the former state airline.

Ryanair, which already owns 29.82 percent of Aer Lingus after an earlier takeover bid was blocked by the European Union, said the offer represented a 28 percent premium over the closing price of Aer Lingus shares for the 30 days to 28 November 2008.
