On a practical level, the Accelerator 1610 in a PC–104+ form factor can live in a satellite modem at a fixed location and can also provide a "network in a box", a briefcase case solution in which the antenna points to a satellite dish. For military in battlefield situations, oil rig employees, VIPs, corporate executives, and many others deployed to remote locales, it is an ideal way to assure that crucial communications are not interrupted and that information is received in the most timely fashion possible.
