MADRID (Reuters) - Spain's largest bank Santander confirmed on Monday that it is in talks to buy U.S. bank Sovereign, but that no deal has yet been reached.
A source familiar with the matter said late on Sunday that the Spanish bank was in advanced talks to acquire full control of Sovereign, in which it already holds a 24.9 percent stake.
