U.S. crude futures fall $5 as equities tumble

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. crude oil futures fell more than $5 on Monday as the financial turmoil spreading to Europe fueled more concern about slowing global oil demand and as U.S. and global equities were battered.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange at 1:04 p.m. EDT, November crude was down $4.93, or 5.25 percent, at $88.95 a barrel, trading between $88.57 and $92.68. The intraday low was lowest since $88.00 was struck on February 8.
