Kogire–kai (headquartered at 265 Hanatate–machi, Koromonotana–dori Takeya–machi Kudaru, Nakagyo–ku, Kyoto–shi; Chair: Mizue Kakimoto) will hold a special auction preview, Aesthetics in the Samurai Family, for three days from Friday, October 17, 2008 through Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Kohdai Temple in Higashiyama–ku, Kyoto.
Admission will require either a temple viewing ticket (which, at 900 yen, includes admission for Kohdai Temple, the Kohdaiji Sho Museum and the Entokuin Temple as well) or an invitation coupon from our auction catalog. Persons interested in a catalog are requested to contact us as indicated below.
Attendees at the auction shall be able to see real weaponry, accessories and armor, and shall also be permitted to participate in the bidding for those items.

The current auction catalog includes approximately 300 items, including the breastplate from the late Muromachi period (see photo), armor, helmets, swords, sword fittings (swordguards, decorative hilts and pommels owned and used by Masanori Fukushima, saddles decorated with gold lacquer and mother–of–pearl, and traditional Japanese matchlock rifles.
