Just ahead of the CARTES & IDentification exhibition, the Sesames Awards have become, over the past 13 years, the world reference for smartcard manufacturers and the industry that surrounds them. As undisputed labels of innovation and much coveted awards, these trophies are open not only to the CARTES & IDentification exhibitors, but more broadly for all the world contributors in this field: industrials, users, integrators and developers. Selected by an international jury, the 10 winners will be revealed on November 3, 2008 during a gala evening at the "Pavillon Gabriel" near the Champs–Elysées in Paris.
An impressive cast
On the exhibition´s opening eve, the 10 prize–winners will be honoured during an evening organized on November 3, 2008 in one of the most famous place in Paris, the "Pavillon Gabriel".
The major world contributors of the sector (Gemalto, Oberthur Technologies, Giesecke & Devrient, NXP Semiconductors, Inside Contactless, Thales, Atos Worldline, etc.) will take part in this event.
35 finalists divided in 10 distinct categories
- HARDWARE SESAME (smart card, token, microprocessor, electronic component, pay–point, terminal, equipment for card manufacture or printing, etc.)
The nominees are Infineon Technologies with SLE 78 Family with Integrity Guard, Infineon Technologies with SLM 76 Security Controller for Machine–to–Machine applications and Inside Contactless with MicroRead.
- SOFTWARE SESAME (operating system, multi–application, access management program, algorithm, program, card management program, tool for testing or audit, etc.)
The nominees are Gemalto with Smart Card Web Mashups, Hypercom with Hypersafe32 and Oberthur Technologies with SafeSTIC.
- IDENTIFICATION APPLICATION SESAME
The nominees are Identita Technologies International with ID–Touch, Motorola with Motorola Bio–Enrol, Motorola with Motorola Mobile AFIS and Smart Packaging Solutions with Antiskimming solution for e–Passport.
- IT SECURITY APPLICATION SESAME
The nominees are Gemalto with BioPIN–enabled Gemalto.NET smart cards, Giesecke & Devrient with StarSign Mobility Token, GO–Trust with GO–Trust SD Solution and Privaris with plusID 75.
- TRANSPORT APPLICATION SESAME
The nominees are Giesecke & Devrient with Touch & Travel, Oberthur Technologies with WebSTIC Fly and Smartsoft Information Technologies with SmartCity.
- BANKING/FINANCE/RETAIL APPLICATION SESAME
The nominees are Thales with Thales SafeSign Pilot Package for mobile authentication, XIRING with BioPass and XIRING with Xi Sign wallet.
- HEALTH CARE APPLICATION SESAME
The nominees are gematik – Gesellschaft für Telematikanwendungen der Gesundheitskarte with Mobiler Konnektor, Hypercom with medCompac, NXP Semiconductors & Austrian Research Centers with KeepInTouch–NFC solution and Oberthur Technologies with HealthSTIC.
- MOBILE APPLICATION SESAME
The nominees are Neowave with Weneo–NFC, Oberthur Technologies with GIGANTIC WUAOW and Oberthur Technologies with WebSim Local Advertising.
E–TRANSACTIONS APPLICATION SESAME
The nominees are Atos Worldline with Fast booking on ATM, EtherTrust & Sagem Orga with TLS–Tandem, Immigration Department (ImmD) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government with e–Passport Self–service Kiosk and SafeNet with SafeNet ViewPIN+.
- LOYALTY APPLICATION SESAME
The nominees are Contactless Data with MobiFetch, Experian with Come&Tap, garanti Payment systems with Flexi Card and ViVOtech with ViVOnfc 3.0.

About CARTES & IDentification 2008
The CARTES & IDentification Trade show will open its doors on November 4th at Paris–Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre.
