DS2, the leading technology innovator and global supplier of high–speed Powerline communications technology announced today that the International Engineering Consortium (IEC) has named DS2 a finalist for its prestigious InfoVision Enabling Silicon and Component Level Technologies Award. The IEC selected DS2´s Aitana chipset, an innovative, highly integerated 200Mbps Power line Communication integrated circuit, the only fully customized silicon to support the home network in commercial IPTV services. Aitana enables reliable and easy to use multimedia home networking over home wiring.

Aitana includes on chip support for TR–069, a suite of standard protocols created by the DSL Forum for remote management of end–user devices including routers, IPTV set–top boxes, or VoIP adapters. The chipset uses AES 256 encryption to offer the highest–grade security. Aitana solves coverage problems inherent in other technologies with smart routing and repeating functions to establish the best communication path for video applications. Service providers including British Telecom, Portugal Telecom and Telefónica use Aitana based products to solve the home–networking dilemma of commercial IPTV services.
