Diligent Technologies Corporation, a leading provider of

reseller partner located in the Czech Republic, today announced that
SKODA Auto, one of the world's most established car manufacturers, has
successfully deployed Diligent's ProtecTIER Data Protection Platform
at its main two data centers. By installing ProtecTIER, SKODA's backup
and recovery environment not only performs faster on backup and
restores, but the solution has significantly reduced the amount of
backup disk capacity requirements by 90%. Handling a variety of data
types and retention times, SKODA handles the backup and restore of
450TBs of enterprise-class data on only 37TBs of disk.
SKODA Auto faced significant challenges in its data storage
environment. Multiple backup copies were not available and the system,
comprised of hardware from several different vendors, did not have the
capacity to allow tape backups to be recovered quickly or validated
for completeness and accuracy. The estimated time to recover an
individual lost file was a minimum of four hours and backups were
reported to be failing 70% of the time. SKODA Auto selected Diligent's
ProtecTIER over the competition on its merits of data factoring,
efficiency in remote backup, scalability, flexibility and its hardware
agnostic approach.

infrastructure and with the growth rate that we were facing, we knew
tape was no longer the answer. With the help of SIT, we began
searching for a solution that could be effective and integrate easily
with our complex mix of storage architectures from several different
