High demand, few resources, a high price - the effects of energy–related problems are making themselves felt on the end–consumer level. In advance of the COP15 Conference, the Z–Wave Alliance is hosting in co–operation with the Danish Electricity Saving Trust (DEST) the first European Home Control and Energy–Saving Conference (HCES) in Copenhagen. The framework of the accompanying program consists of presentations and round–table discussions, in which top presenters from global industrial brands like Nokia, Danfoss etc., along with leading Danish politicians such as Connie Hedegaard, discuss the opportunities and benefits of Wireless Home Automation in the context of climate protection.
The two–day conference targets decision makers in the electronics market, energy supply companies, representatives from the political arena, OEMs, manufacturers, installer channels and the retail sector of the European Home Control segment.
Z–Wave and DEST accept the challenge of energy conservation
Denmark´s Minister for Climate and Energy, Connie Hedegaard, explains the role that energy–saving wireless technology takes on from a governmental perspective. In this context, the DEST and the Z–Wave Alliance present their strategy to actively deal with environmental problems with the aid of Home Control solutions based on Z–Wave technology.
Göran Wilke, the chairman of DEST will address the possibilities that emerge from the application of wireless technology in the privately owned home. "Home Control solutions make energy consumption manageable, in a highly targeted and also - something very important - transparent way", Wilke explains. "This gives consumers the opportunity to take action on their own hand in order to achieve drastic energy savings in their homes."
Lew Brown, Vice President of Marketing at Zensys, will give a presentation on the benefits offered by the Z–Wave Ecosystem to the global ecosystem.
Andrew Deeming, Engineering and Operation Director of Horstmann Control UK, explains how, with the aid of Home Control solutions, one can realize substantial savings in energy consumption.
Roar Seeger, CEO of Modstroem, will relay valuable insights from the perspective of an energy supply company which offers "green" energy in combination with Z–Wave–based tools.
COP 15 - a world full of possibilities
Further presentations during the afternoon deal with the topic "COP15" as associated with Wireless Home Automation. Finn Mortensen, the chairmen of the industrial committee on climate change, explains the potential of the World Climate Conference, coming up in the fall of 2009.
Toni Sormunen, the director of Smart Home at Nokia, explains the role that the combination of mobile devices and Home Control solutions, which enable the management of energy use in the privately owned home, will play in the course of COP15.
The journalist Martin Krasnik will lead a panel discussion on how industry can put their proposals into practice. Afterwards, the participants have the opportunity to benefit from the speakers´ know–how in a Q&A session.
Further topical highlights of the conference include:
– Market differences between the USA and Europe
– Energy–saving trends
– Adding value by means of "MyHome", DEST´s online energy management tool
As a supplement to the conference, a specialized Home Control exhibition will take place at which Home Control products from Danfoss, Horstmann, Innovus, Seluxit, Düwi, Data Response, NorthQ, Everspring, Hawking and many other suppliers will be demonstrated.
