Chemical Week´s 14th Annual China Conference to Focus on Opportunities and Challenges in China´s Chemical Industry

As the world´s attention moves past the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the global chemical industry focuses its attention on what will happen in post–Olympics China at Chemical Week´s 14th Annual China Conference, "Can China Continue to Drive Chemicals Growth?". The event will be held October 28 – 30, 2008 at the Portman Ritz Carlton in Shanghai.

The 2008 program has been designed to address the urgent questions facing the global chemical industry, including: Will continued industrialization and development fuel investment? How will the economic slowdown in the U.S. and other overseas markets affect China? Will domestic demand be strong enough to drive continued robust growth? Which sectors will China´s chemical industry focus on next? Where are the best investment opportunities? What are the options for alternative feedstocks in the face of unprecedented crude oil prices? What are the latest government initiatives in environmental protection? What new business models are delivering the best results?

"For more than a decade, senior executives and managers from leading chemical and petrochemical companies and related industries have attended our China Conference for timely, relevant marketplace analysis. We are confident that the excellent panel of speakers we have assembled this year will again deliver powerful insights into China´s chemical industry, economy and future," said Lyn Tattum, Publisher and Group Vice President, Chemical Week. "The event also provides an unmatched opportunity to meet with Chinese leaders."

Speakers include: Dale MacDonald, President, Ashland China; Michael Koenig, President, Bayer Group Greater China, and Chairman, Bayer China; Scott Hoag, Safety, Health and Environment Manager/Asia, Dow Corning; Jeffery W. Davis, Regional Manufacturing Director/Asia Pacific, ExxonMobil Chemical; Jin Mingda, Chairman of the Board, Shanghai Huayi (Group) Company; Mark Wilson, Deputy General Manager, Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical Co; Thomas Chhoa, General Manager/Ethylene Oxide–Ethylene Glycol, Shell Chemicals; Michel Ybert, President, Rhodia Asia Pacific.
