PARIS (Reuters) - President Francois Hollande used his annual Bastille Day message to the French on Tuesday to launch the idea of an elected assembly for the 19-nation euro single currency zone.
"In the long-term, I would also like for there to be a parliament for the euro zone," he told national television, adding that he also backed the idea of closer harmonisation of fiscal and social policies within the bloc and a common budget for investment.
