Passlogix(R), Inc. today announced the general
availability of v-GO(R) Credential Manager (v-GO CM(TM)), the newest
product in the Passlogix v-GO(R) Sign-On Platform(TM). v-GO CM is the
first tool that controls the issuance, management and revocation of
strong authentication devices - such as smart cards and tokens - from
multiple vendors. This open architecture provides flexibility in
initial product selection, allows different devices to be used for
different user groups, and permits device and equipment changes
without the need to switch credential management systems.
As a standalone product, v-GO CM simplifies the deployment and
management of smart cards and other strong authentication devices. As
part of Passlogix's overall v-GO suite, it supports Passlogix's
three-step strategy for eliminating the theft-prone and
overhead-intensive user management of application passwords. This
strategy includes replacing user-management of passwords with a robust
enterprise single sign-on (ESSO) solution, integrating ESSO with
identity provisioning systems so that users never know or touch
application credentials, and integrating with strong authentication
devices so that the user only ever authenticates with the appropriate
authenticator for all sign-on activities.
"v-GO CM adds another important building block in the ecosystem we
are building to bring simplicity and security to user authentication,"
said Stephane Fymat, Passlogix vice president of product management
and sales operations. "With the six products now in our v-GO suite,
system administrators have everything they need to move from
user-controlled passwords to a strongly-authenticated single sign-on
system."
In addition to its open architecture, key benefits of v-GO CM
include the ability to:
-- Integrate physical and logical access credentials, from garage
gate, through the front door and on to the computer network
and application login. This gives users a seamless and
transparent authentication experience, and equips
administrators with full control of user authentication from
credential issuance to termination.
-- Support Microsoft Certificate Lifecycle Manager (CLM) and
deliver enhanced user self-service and identity-driven
administrative functionality.
-- Deploy rapidly, in part through automatic identification of
the existing network infrastructure that eliminates the need
for consultants. End users can also enroll, reset and
otherwise manage their credentials through a self-service
portal.
-- Integrate with the v-GO Sign-On Platform, enabling one-stop
administration of ESSO and strong authentication devices from
a single v-GO console or the customer's identity management
system; consolidation of access, identity and credential data
in a common repository; and a unified end user interface for
all user self-service functions.
-- Aid compliance with government initiatives such as Homeland
Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12), the Health
Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the
Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX).
"Managing strong authentication credentials can be a complex
process without the right tools," said David Dully, Chief Technology
Officer for Baptist Health, a five-hospital community healthcare
provider in Northeast Florida that uses v-GO Single Sign-On solution
to provide physicians with fast and secure application access.
Although not currently using the new v-GO CM solution, Dully went on
to say that "Given Passlogix's successful track record in the SSO
technology space, I fully expect v-GO CM to be a flexible solution
that can streamline SSO deployment, and simplify the identity
management infrastructure by fitting seamlessly into the entire v-GO
suite."
Version 1.0 of v-GO CM, available immediately, is designed for
smart card management. Support for tokens, biometrics and proximity
cards will be added in future releases. Pricing begins at $40 per
user.
Other components of Passlogix's v-GO Sign-On Platform include v-GO
Single Sign-On (v-GO SSO(R)), which replaces multiple application
passwords with automatically generated hacker-proof credentials to
strengthen security practices and simplify the end user experience;
and add-on products that extend v-GO's single sign-on capabilities to
any form of strong authentication as well as to kiosk environments,
enable identity provisioning systems to automatically inject user
credentials into v-GO SSO, and enable self-service reset of forgotten
Windows passwords.
