Plaxo today announced the availability of a Dutch version of its next–generation social network, Pulse. Following recent explosive growth, The Netherlands has become the third highest source of traffic in Pulse (after the United States and the United Kingdom) and has attained the highest number of connections per user. This move follows localization of Plaxo last year into French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, and Spanish.
To support the localization and translation, Plaxo worked with a Plaxo Premium power user Dirk–Jan Timmer, who volunteered to create the glossary of Dutch terms. Loyal Plaxo users around the world have aided in localization efforts in the past, and continue to do so, building a vibrant community effort between the company and its members. Members interested in volunteering to help in the localization for their language can do so by emailing international@plaxo.com.
In addition to Pulse, the Dutch version of the Plaxo service also includes the company´s networked address book, online calendar, and connector for data sync with Microsoft Outlook. The connector for the Mac Address Book will be available soon. For more information about Plaxo and localized Pulse images, please visit www.plaxo.com/about/press_room/DutchScreenshots.
"Of course, we´ve always known that the Dutch are early adopters and strong networkers," said Regina Bustamante, Director of Globalization for Plaxo. "But we were still surprised and delighted to see just how fast Pulse took off in The Netherlands. So we localized the service into Dutch as a way to show our appreciation, and, perhaps, to accelerate the already high growth rate."
Pulse is a next generation social network that pulls in a wide variety of feeds and user–created content allowing members to develop conversations about their content stream - with friends and family or across their business network.
