CSS Inc., a leader in remote infrastructure equipment management, today released the latest addition to its widely–implemented family of solutions, ComView IPw. As one of the most innovative network management tools to date, ComView IPw provides a powerful, flexible and cost–effective choice for securely monitoring, accessing, controlling and collecting data from all equipment across a distributed network infrastructure.
Network infrastructures are being pushed harder and farther than ever before to meet expanding networks and growing user demands. Regardless of geographic location, operations and engineering teams are expected to maintain high availability, reliability and security of their networks. When a remote device cannot be seen or managed over a network link, a costly and time–consuming site visit by a technician is required.
ComView IPw reduces the cost and complexity of supporting remote networks and enables teams to maintain a real–time, virtual presence at every site. Full network visibility made possible through ComView IPw ensures continual performance of network and system devices with minimal disruption to systems, applications and data critical to the business. Key features include:
- Secure Access: supports IPSec VPN and OpenVPN to secure communication channels with remote equipment by Ethernet or PPP dial–up connection. Central TACACS+/RADIUS and local definable access policies provide strict access control.
- High I/O Port Integration: Supports up to 64 wet/dry contact sensing inputs, eight bipolar voltage/current loop analog inputs, and eight relay-driven outputs for monitoring and controlling a wide range of environmental/security sensors and devices.
- Multi Functional Serial Ports: Easy user configuration for direct transparent access, data collection, and/or intelligent alarm monitoring. Configure each serial port to function passively or actively using scripts. Provides flexibility for remote serial administered equipment management.
- Alarm Monitoring: Monitor serial data stream, TCP socket ASCII data stream, SNMP traps, TCP/IP server status, and contact inputs for user–definable alarm conditions. Can be delivered to multiple locations with different means and formats (SNMP, email, ASCII message).
- Data Collection, Buffering: for upstream application retrieval and processing.
- Task Automation: Together with a built–in task scheduler, support of Perl scripting language enables routine administrative tasks to be automated, corrective actions to be taken in response to alarm events, and add–on end–user applications to be readily realized.
- 10/100 Ethernet VLAN Switch: Integrated Ethernet switch enables additional network connected equipment to be readily accessible. Also enhances access reliability by reducing potential point of failure in using an external network switch onsite.
- Downloadable Configuration File: to configure devices quickly and efficiently.
