Bringing composites to the attention of a public of designers, interior architects and design students… This is the purpose of a new program, created by the JEC Group, worldwide leader in information in the field of composites. “´Composites for better living, by JEC©´, has been designed to inspire designers, helping them explore the multiple facets of the universe of composites (textures, shapes, ergonomics, lightness, appearance, etc.) and through this, find their own freedom of expression”, explained Mrs. Frédérique Mutel, JEC Group President & CEO.
A dedicated design space as part of the JEC Europe International Composites Show
For the very first time it will be possible to discover, via a 650 sqm space designed by Francesco Giganti, all the possibilities of composites, through some 50 design objects. Composites are equally suited to interior and exterior use. They have considerable advantages, notably in terms of lightness, ultra-resistance, and their ability to be shaped into complex forms. “These advantages are already attracting industrial designers! It is of critical importance that we build new bridges. Thanks to this opportunity, composites will be able to break out from those fields to which they are commonly tied, aerospace, automotive, and marine, sports and leisure, etc. The applications we are showcasing cover a much wider range of uses, some of which are unexpected and surprising. And we continue to dream of products of the future, yet to be invented, to further enhance our lives”, stated Frédérique Mutel.
Conferences and testimonies on Design - March 12
Staying faithful to this idea of exchanging knowledge and building new networks, the JEC Group has put together a program targeting the new generation of designers. The ´Designing with composites... for a better living´, conference, organized in partnership with Professor Ignaas Verpoest (Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium) will take place on Thursday March 12, 2015 at 10 am in the VIP Lounge of JEC Europe 2015 (Paris, Porte de Versailles, Hall 7.3).
