Warner Home Video Announces Launch of Titles on the High Definition HD DVD Format in European Markets

Warner Home Video, which distributes the largest film
library of any studio, announced today at IFA 2006 the company's plans
to release more than 15 HD DVD titles in European markets. These
markets include France, Germany, Spain and the UK. The initial films,
a combination of recent hits and catalog favorites, are expected to be
available late 2006.
Warner Bros. titles will be released in conjunction with the
expected European availability of HD DVD movie players and will
include recent hits such as "Rumor Has It" and "Constantine," as well
as classics from the extensive Warner Home Video library such as
"Goodfellas," "Troy" and "Lethal Weapon."
"European consumers are primed for high definition content with
their steady adoption of HDTVs. With the introduction of HD DVD
players and Warner Bros. HD DVD titles, we are poised to meet this
growing demand," said Ron Sanders, President of Warner Home Video.
"Warner Home Video is offering a wide array of high definition titles
so movie enthusiasts throughout Europe can witness the stunning
in-home viewing and audio experience that high definition provides."
HD DVD offers resolution up to six times higher than standard
definition DVDs, extraordinarily vibrant contrast and color in
addition to beautifully crisp sound. HD DVD also provides a new level
of interactivity, giving instant access to extra features with the
debut of a seamless menu-bar that allows viewers to enjoy features and
settings without leaving or interrupting the film.
Today, the vast Warner Bros. library, considered one of the most
prestigious and prodigious in the world, consists of more than 6,600
feature films, 40,000 television titles and 14,000 animated titles
(including over 1,500 classic animated shorts). The library currently
consists of films from such distinguished banners as Warner Bros.
Pictures, Castle Rock, Warner Independent Pictures, Lorimar Pictures,
RKO and classic MGM (pre-1986).
