Telenor Slovakia, a subsidiary of Telenor Satellite
Services, recently earned the internationally recognized ISO 9001:2000
Certification for its business management systems.
The ISO 9001:2000 is a rigorous international quality standard
conducted by the International Organization for Standardization
assessing Telenor Slovakia's design and development, production,
installation, and service procedures.
The audit took place in late June at the Telenor Slovakia's
Bratislava, Slovakia headquarters and thoroughly examined the
company's engineering activities - from information systems design and
operation to technical and administrative support. The examiners also
reviewed the company's consulting services - including designing,
training, and in-the-field IT support services and capabilities.
ISO 9001:2000 certification is a very prestigious and
internationally recognized award and serves as a quality of service
management tool. The certification recognizes Telenor Slovakia's
business processes and practices as meeting strictly defined
international benchmarks for quality of service. ISO 9001:2000
recognition also means that Telenor Slovakia is officially recognized
as meeting international business standards and is highly qualified to
participate in public tenders.
"ISO 9001 certification will ensure that Telenor Slovakia, being
both a large player in the local (Slovakia) market as well as a VSAT
support arm of Telenor Satellite Services, achieves strict operational
standards in meeting the communications requirements for our existing
customers as well as for future customers," said Tore Morten Olsen,
vice president of Telenor Satellite Services.
According to Valeria Valovicova, who is Telenor Slovakia's ISO
9001:2000 project manager, the demanding certification process began
in March of 2006 and is the first time that the company has undertaken
the effort and process to attain the certificate. She also noted that
the certification is valid for three years and there will be yearly
quality assurance audits performed annually.
