AMD (NYSE:AMD) today announced that sales for the second
quarter ended July 2, 2006 are expected to be approximately $1.215
billion -- a 52 percent increase compared to the second quarter of
2005(1) and a nine percent decline compared to the first quarter of
2006. The company's prior guidance for the second quarter anticipated
overall sales to be flat to slightly down seasonally from the first
quarter of 2006.
Record AMD Opteron(TM) processor sales were driven by continued
strong demand for single-, dual- and multi-socket configurations for
servers and workstations. Sales of entry-level and mainstream mobile
and desktop processors were down.
AMD will report its second quarter 2006 results after market close
on Thursday, July 20, 2006. AMD will hold a conference call on this
day for the financial community at 2:30 p.m. U.S. PDT to discuss
second quarter financial results. AMD will provide a real-time audio
broadcast of the teleconference on the Investor Relations page of its
Web site at www.amd.com. The webcast will be available for 10 days
after the conference call.
