ZTE Deutschland GmbH, a sub-company of the leading global provider of telecommunications equipment, network solutions and mobile devices ZTE Corporation, has announced that its customer E-Plus ranks top 2 in a comprehensive network test that was conducted with all the mobile networks in Germany by the German magazine COMPUTER BILD. The E-Plus mobile network which was in large parts modernized with core network, UMTS and LTE equipment by ZTE, was placed in the top two position, mainly based on the recent expansion and excellent performance of the UMTS network as well as high LTE data speed rates.
E-Plus and ZTE entered into a strategic partnership in 2009, when E-Plus chose to cooperate with ZTE as leading equipment supplier for E-Plus’ mobile network. Since the beginning of 2014, ZTE is also maintaining and operating the network of E-Plus. The cooperation between the two market challengers paid off: readers of “CHIP” magazine voted for E-Plus as number one mobile network operator in April 2014 due to its high data throughput and exceptional user-experiences. The results of the CHIP reader’s choice are now confirmed by COMPUTER BILD’s network test. E-Plus mobile network even outperforms its competitors: in some areas of Germany, E-Plus offers an average rate of more than 50 percent faster mobile surfing speed rate compared to other operators. E-Plus mobile network offers average download speeds of 9.43Mbps in UMTS and of 30.89 in LTE standard. The E-Plus network was also praised in this test for its dense UMTS network coverage (98.8% of the tested area), the highest successful network browse rate and the second fastest webpage opening speed of 1.8 sec. in UMTS.
COMPUTER BILD’s 2014 network test was conducted by its own network test-app. According to the publication, the test combines data from more than 61,000 users who downloaded the app on a tablet or smartphone. The network test was based upon a total of approximately 18.5 million measurements of data speeds as well as approximately 16 million telephony minutes.
“Recognizing our customers’ needs, ZTE continues to introduce leading-edge technology to enhance network capacity and enable operators to provide high-quality networks. COMPUTER BILD’s evaluation of the German E-Plus shows that ZTE has a strong technical capability to support operators to build world-class networks,” said Li Jun, Managing Director of ZTE Deutschland GmbH.
