AEG Power Solutions (FWB:3W9K), a global provider of UPS systems and power electronic solutions for industrial, commercial and renewable applications today announced the launch of its modular DC process power supply system Thyrobox DC-3 targeting industrial applications with high power requirements.
Industrial high power applications such as surface coating in electroplating (copper-, chrome-, iron-, anodizing) and in electrolysis (hydrogen, chlorine) demand the highest reliability in terms of power supply. High quality output voltage and power are a necessity but energy efficiency and limited distortions to the grid feeder are also part of the equation. A good power factor and minimized harmonics contribute to reduce the overall cost of operations in these processes. The Thyrobox DC-3 was precisely designed to provide these benefits.

AEG PS’s new Thyrobox DC-3 power supply system has been developed on the base of the proven B12-IGBT-chopper technology and has a modular structure. The smallest Thyrobox DC-3 has an output power of 1,500 A and can be modularly expanded to 30,000 A. Due to the wide output power range, load voltages from 20 V up to 500 V can be realized with the Thyrobox DC-3. This concept also allows a configuration with redundant modules.
The Thyrobox DC-3 can be connected either to the low voltage or the medium voltage grid. Upon request, AEG Power Solutions also delivers a separate power transformer, as well as wiring from the transformer to the Thyrobox with busbars or cables. Adaptations to individual requirements are possible, such as special software, special instrumentation etc.
The Thyrobox DC-3 has been developed and designed at the company’s German competence center based in Warstein where it will also be produced.
