Lone Star Project Moves to Next Level of Advanced Stage Exploration

Donald W. Flinn, Vice-President, Operations is pleased
to announce that Klondike Star Mineral Corporation (OTCBB:KDSM) is
proceeding with its most extensive drilling and bulk sampling program
ever on its major gold property, located 20 kilometers from Dawson
City in the heart of the Klondike gold producing region of the Yukon,
Canada. 2006 exploration efforts will more than double the substantial
investment in 2005.
The Lone Star Project consists of 1056 mineral claims and crown
grants totaling 152 square kilometers. Lone Star is the largest
project of five in the Klondike, wherein Klondike Star has total
holdings in excess of 350 square kilometers. It is the site of the
former producing Lone Star Mine (1912-14) and decades of systematic
exploration. Lone Star is located in the Klondike region of the Yukon
that has produced millions of ounces of gold. Part of the Tintina Gold
Belt spanning Alaska and the Yukon, it remains a significant gold
producing region to this day.
Klondike Star's results to date and the potential of the Lone Star
Project are summed up by Bill Mann, Exploration Manager in the 2006
project assessment. This follows the 2005 large-scale diamond
drilling, soil and chip sampling, bulk sampling program.
"The Lone Star represents an extensive mineralized area with a
large tonnage, low grade gold resource augmented by higher grade zones
that warrants an expanded exploration effort and intensive evaluation
for potential mine feasibility and development," says Mann.
Since acquiring the property in 2004, Klondike Star has become the
majority owner and operator, increased the size of the project from
500 to 1056 mineral claims and crown grants, constructed a hard camp
and milling infrastructure on site, and completed extensive soil, chip
and bulk sampling, drilling, milling and assay analysis.
The 2006 summer work plan will run from late May through October.
It includes an expanded diamond and auger drilling program of 11,000
metres, more than double the 4828 metres drilled in 2005. This will
further delineate the extent of the known gold bearing ore body in the
primary zones of interest, including the Lone Star and extensions, the
Buckland between Gay Gulch and 27 Pup and the Nugget zone above Oro
Grande Gulch. Deep drill holes are planned to extend resource analysis
to depths beyond 500 metres.
The company completed construction and testing of its Bulk Sample
Testing Facility in 2005. This facility will process between 1 and 10
tonne samples from trenches throughout the Lone Star property and will
provide detailed analysis of ore grades, lode gold particle counts,
and milling efficiencies. Such data will contribute to completing an
industry standard mineral resource assessment. Information gathered
will also be part of the ongoing scoping study currently in progress
(Press Release #13-2005), while environmental baseline studies enter
their third season.
New facilities, including a mechanical shop and camp annex, are
being constructed in the vicinity of the Eldorado Camp installed for
the 2005 season. This infrastructure will increase productivity and
provided cost-efficiencies while supporting a larger exploration
effort.
The Lone Star Project is an advanced, late stage exploration
property. Bulk sampling is proceeding alongside the scoping study to
determine the economic viability of the mineral deposit and facilitate
expedited planning and decision-making.

kilometers of select high potential targets in other parts of the
Yukon.
The famous Klondike goldfields have been in constant surface
mining production since the discovery of gold in 1896. Thousands of
ounces of gold continue to be produced from placer mining operations
each year on streams in the Klondike. The company owns extensive
subsurface and surface mining rights in the Klondike mining district.
