AEM Cremona's Extraordinary Work Acknowledged With BE Award

The Azienda Energetica Municipale (AEM) Cremona's new
geospatial system, SIT AEMCR, is enabling this multi-utility in Italy
to improve the quality of its services and increase its performance.
For its implementation of this new system, AEM Cremona received a BE
Award in the category "Geospatial: Utilities."
The BE Awards of Excellence, which are selected by an independent
jury of industry experts and presented at an evening ceremony during
the annual BE Conference, honor the extraordinary work of Bentley
users in improving the world's infrastructure. These projects set
benchmarks for their industries, and showcase the imagination and
technical mastery of the organizations that created them. This year's
BE Awards of Excellence ceremony takes place May 22 in Charlotte, N.C.
AEM Cremona's SIT AEMCR system manages the multi-utility's many
responsibilities, including electricity, gas, water, wastewater, and
district heating services, along with public lighting, road signals,
and traffic lights. The company required a database framework able to
manage data from different sources, and to publish administrative
documents and project files about the networks and territory.
Bentley geospatial solutions were deployed to support the delivery
of services to the customer. The managed environment, which is built
on ProjectWise, uses the Bentley Geospatial Management extension to
provide a spatial user interface to the information managed by
ProjectWise. The editing environment is built on the XFM (XML Feature
Modeling) capabilities of MicroStation. Applications using XFM
technology are rules-based to help detect inconsistencies in the
network, such as a cable not connected to a substation. The
information is subsequently housed in Oracle Spatial.
The quality of AEM Cremona's services has improved internally and
externally. The system saves time and improves performance, has solved
interoperability problems between different products, and allows users
to import, read, and edit native data from different tools.
