Upcoming Conference to Showcase Role of In-House Counsel as Global Legal Managers

Registration for the Association of Corporate Counsel Europe’s (“ACC Europe”) 2008 Annual Conference in Madrid, Spain, 1-3 June (www.acc.com/acce/ac/08), is now available. This year’s conference, In-House Lawyers as Leaders in a Global World, will showcase the role of in-house counsel as global legal managers. Recognising that in-house counsel are frequently called upon to fulfill a variety of roles with increased responsibility, scrutiny and accountability, the conference has been developed to help attendees navigate the fast-paced, international landscape seamlessly. “With the depth and breadth of ACC Europe’s legal resources and educational programmes,” explains Tony Wales, ACC Europe’s President and Senior Vice President & General Counsel for AOL International, “we have numerous tools available to develop a more effective cross-border legal department. By bringing ACC Europe’s members together to glean insight from colleagues, peers and industry experts, we have the unique benefit of providing a forum for in-house lawyers to interact and share best practices. Following our basic principle, it’s by in-house, for in-house.” Speakers have been lined up from AOL, Coca Cola, Philip Morris International, McDonald’s Corporation, Citigroup, Shell International, Starbucks, and Turner Broadcasting Systems to address such topics as Managing Outside Counsel; European Works Councils; Law Department Management; and Intellectual Property Ownership. More intensive courses on leadership, team building and motivation, finance and accounting and data protection for in-house counsel are also available. ACC President Fred Krebs notes that, “This year’s conference is sure to be another great gathering of in-house counsel, filled with programs and practical resources to successfully manage the legal departments within our ever-expanding global community.” Additional information about ACC Europe’s Annual Conference, including registration, venue and programme details, can be found online at www.acc.com/acce/ac/08.
