Cummins Named Diesel Progress North American Newsmaker

Diesel Progress North American magazine has named Cummins Inc. as its 2013 Newsmaker of the Year. It is the third time Cummins has been selected as Diesel Progress Newsmaker of the Year. The company was also honored in 2007 and 2002.

Cummins was cited for a broad range of on- and off-highway engine introductions, its expanding relationship as a primary engine supplier to Navistar and its launch of integrated power systems for heavy-duty truck and rail applications.

“It seemed every time we turned on the computer or went to a trade show Cummins was making news,” said Mike Osenga, publisher of Diesel Progress North American. “New engine platforms, integrated powertrains and all kinds of engine business news, Cummins was in the news all year. And as ‘made the most news’ is one of the criteria for the Newsmaker of the Year, Cummins really caught the attention of our editorial board.”

The Diesel Progress North American Newsmaker of the Year award was inaugurated in 1997 to honor the company, person, product, technology or industry trend that made in the most news in the heavy-duty industrial engine and equipment markets during the calendar year. Markets covered include on-highway and off-highway vehicles and equipment, stationary engine-powered installations such as power generation, oil & gas, pumps and compressors, and marine applications.

Established in 1935, Diesel Progress North American is a monthly trade magazine headquartered in Waukesha, Wis. Covering virtually anything powered by industrial and commercial diesel, gasoline or natural gas and alternative fuel engines, as well as related powertrain, hydraulic and power systems products, technologies and industry news.

Diesel Progress North American is one of five publications of the parent company, Diesel & Gas Turbine Publications.
