Picis Launches Total Perioperative Automation Solution in Europe

Picis, the leading provider of information systems for the high-acuity

areas of hospitals, has announced the European launch of Picis Total

Perioperative Automation suite of products designed to help hospitals

increase efficiency, reduce costs and improve the quality of care

through every aspect of surgery, which is the most resource- and

cost-intensive area in the hospital..
The Institut Mutualiste Montsouris (IMM) in the south of Paris, a

nonprofit private hospital with over 1,100 full-time staff, worked

closely with Picis in the validation of this latest version of Total

Perioperative Automation suite for the French market.
Picis systems are used in more than 1,600 hospitals in 19 countries.

With healthcare systems around the world investing in technology with

proven return on investment, Picis Total Perioperative Automation suite

offers hospitals the chance to achieve real efficiencies in the most

critical areas of the organization.
Picis Total Perioperative Automation suite, part of the CareSuite® family of high-acuity solutions, provides a unified system that includes

the clinical, administrative and business components needed to operate

the perioperative suite efficiently, and addresses some of the

fundamental issues facing healthcare providers in Europe, namely:

Reducing waiting lists by improving surgical throughput

Reducing costs through better management of resources, supplies

implants, drugs and instruments

Automating materials management

Optimizing use of limited resources - especially staff

Helping clinicians improve surgical outcomes and reduce medical errors

through better documentation

Improving communication by decreasing repetitive documentation and

phone calls

Improving clinician and patient satisfaction

"Choosing Picis Total Perioperative

Automation suite was a strategic decision, which supported our desire to

be at the forefront of healthcare technology in France," said Jean-Michel Gayraud, chief operating officer at IMM. "The

Picis solution helps physicians and nurses to work on an accurate

integrated record, increase staff efficiency, reduce costs, improve

communication and help to improve the quality of patient care."
Picis Total Perioperative Automation functionality includes

operational/management reporting and analysis, surgical scheduling

patient tracking, resource utilization, inventory management, and

clinical documentation for anesthesia and recovery room providers

surgeons, operating room nurses, and administrative staff.
The flexible and highly interoperable nature of the Picis system allows

hospitals to select the functionality most closely aligned to their most

pressing and immediate needs. It means that the necessary data collected

and documented is available wherever and whenever it is needed "” allowing staff and management to improve the performance of the

perioperative suite and take greater control of the entire surgical

workflow. It also integrates tightly with other hospital care areas such

as critical care.
"Total Perioperative Automation is the

optimum solution to efficiently support hospitals through their

computerization projects. It supports clinicians, department heads and

executives who expect the best technology in their high-acuity areas

without compromising their hospital-wide IT strategies," commented Philippe Mabille, Picis general director for France. "This

latest version of Total Perioperative Automation means hospitals can

leverage Picis connectivity with other existing hospital technology to

improve efficiency and provide a complete record across the continuum of

care."
